Langtang and Gosaikunda trek Overview

Langtang and Gosaikunda trek is a stunning tour in Nepal of lush forests, eccentric villages, ample wildlife, and outstanding landscapes of the magnificent Himalayas. This trek starts in Kathmandu through trips to the city’s UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Then the trekkers dive to Syabrubesi, which is a Tamang village situated on the banks of the Bhote Koshi River, and start their trek. From there the trekkers will get incredible views of the Langtang Lirung (7,200m/23,622ft) range. Next, they will carry on trekking in the beautiful Langtang Valley and reach Gosaikunda that is a revered location of pilgrimage for both Buddhists and Hindus.

Furthermore, the location is named after the sparkling Gosaikunda Lake whose water is believed to have miraculous healing powers. The trekkers will cross through a few more lakes on their trek and pass the Laurebina Pass. The trek in the Helambu Valley starts after passing by the pass. Another highlight of the trek is to reach the maximum height of Ama Yangti at 3,800m. The view of the mountain ranges from the top of the highland to opposite that of Poon Hill. From here, Mt. Shishapangma and the Langtang ranges seem so near that trekkers feel that they can nearly touch them. They carry on trekking in the Helambu region for a few more days and complete the exceptional tour to the peaks with a drive to Kathmandu.

Langtang and Gosaikunda trek takes the trekkers to the magnificent mountain ranges and remote Langtang Valley; inhabited by hospitable and welcoming Tamang people. Their religious activities, language, and dress resemble those of Tibet compared to the cultures of their relatives in the central hills. The region is popular for its pleasant local, remarkable culture, Buddhist monasteries, and monuments together with the way and stunning peak landscape. This beautiful Langtang Valley trek through Religious Gosaikunda Lake follows the river upstream by pine, bamboo, and rhododendron forests, ascending by stunning yak grassland to arrive at the alpine meadows of Kyanjin Gompa in the place the trekkers will get amazing mountain landscape just a stone’s throw from the Tibetan border. The Langtang Valley is easy to access from Dhunche (district headquarter of Rasuwa) town and the National Park office, which is a day’s drive from Kathmandu. The upper reaches of Langtang can be reached in 4 days of a simple hike; hence, it is valuable to spend a few days across the forest at GhodaTabela to view the red panda. Once beyond the Langtang village and monastery at Kyangjin, Langtang is populated by people of Tibetan descent but the villagers of Dhunche, Bharkhu, and Syabru further down are residents of Tamangs of Nepal’s central hills. Trekkers can visit the high valleys of Langshisha, Kyanjin Ri and Tserku Ri.

    Beautiful Langtang Trek

While my brother and I were looking to do a trek in Nepal, a friend recommended Birman as a guide and we couldn’t have been happier with that suggestion. From the start, he shared several trekking options with us, each with a detailed itinerary, and we decided on a 9-day trek through Langtang Valley and Gosaikunda.
Those 9 days flew by, thanks to how easy and natural it was to connect with Birman. He shared his knowledge of Nepali culture and religion, especially Buddhism, which was deeply present throughout the many pilgrimage sites we visited.
He introduced us to fruits growing in the jungle, explained the landscapes and mountains we passed, and shared a lot about the local traditions.
Moreover, he is very passionate about the conservation of the nature and tries to make a positive impact on the environment.
He positivity and adventurous spirit made each day both fun and meaningful. Thanks to him, we discovered the beautiful nature and people of Nepal. We came as clients and left as friends!
Thank you for this amazing experience!
